September For Beginners

Red, orange, yellow and brown

blur together in the skies and the ground.

What good news does September bring?

A new life,

a chance of reconciling

with my past, my future,

beneath the full moon of Harvest,

with fresh crops for sale in every market.

I sit in front of the fireplace,

hot chocolate in hand.

Reminiscing on the days,

I sunk my feet into sand.

A new colour appears

with each new year.

My son is born,

oh look,

a new fear!

White and blue,

a world painted just for you.

Come, my baby, quick haste,

let's enjoy a hot chocolate,

in front of the fireplace.
